Placement Process

This process is valid for all students, for job and internship placements through OCCaP. Please see the page for detailed instructions/rules for students.
The Placement Season begins in October and goes on till May.
Invitations with the placement timeline and the other relevant information are sent out to the recruiters by OCCaP. New recruiters can contact OCCaP directly by sending a brief email [placement.occap@iisc.ac.in] expressing their interest.
Recruiters are registered on OCCaP online portal. Registered recruiters have individual login credentials for their account. OCCaP placement portal is an interactive platform for job/ internship opportunities.
Recruiters need to sign in on OCCaP online portal and share job/internship opportunities on portal
Detailed information as required in the portal should be updated
OCCaP will schedule timelines for online PPT. Job Description is published to students.
Interested and eligible (as per the criteria specified by the recruiter) students show their willingness to appear for the recruitment process of a company by applying on portal. Details of all such students become available to the recruiter directly on portal. In addition, application list and cvs of students will be shared with recruiters via email before scheduled test/ interview.
Recruiters can shortlist students. Recruiters are also urged to maintain a waitlist of students who can be interviewed in the event of non-availability of some of the shortlisted students
OCCaP will schedule timelines for pre placement talks, online tests and interviews.

Recruiters will schedule PPT’s Tests, Interviews on the alloted date(s).

 

Additional Steps here

If the student finds a mismatch of his desired profile offered by the company, then students can deregister from that company within 6 hours after the completion of pre-placement talk. The list of students who are registered with the company post 6 hours of the talk will be the final list of students eligible to attend that company’s selection process(tests/ interviews etc.,)

The company/recruiter is required to furnish the final list of selected students via email to placement.occap@iisc.ac.in at the end of the assigned interview slot. Recruiters are also urged to maintain a waitlist of students in case of non-availability of some of the selected students. The results should be shared only to this email id. All communication about final results should be communicated only to OCCaP. Any kind of communication with students directly for declaration of results will not be appreciated.

  • Those shortlisted by multiple recruiters should attend ALL interviews as per the schedule provided by the company through OCCaP.
  • A slot can be limited to a day or spread across multiple days

Interview Scheduling

Based on certain criteria, OCCaP will announce a schedule for companies to recruit students from IISc. The information about the selection schedule for a company will be shared by OCCaP via email.

INTERVIEW SCHEDULE

  • Multiple companies will be scheduled on any given day. The maximum time allowed for a company is 90 minutes in total (if multiple rounds are requested) for each candidate.  At any stage, a single session for a candidate may not exceed 60 minutes at a stretch.  Issues related to network failure must be intimated to OCCaP by SMS immediately.
  • Those shortlisted by multiple recruiters should attend ALL interviews as per the schedule provided by the company through OCCaP.
  • A slot can be limited to a day or spread across multiple days

Information for Recruiters

  • Companies interested to participate in campus placements at IISc, please write at placement.occap@iisc.ac.in
  • Company Name, Contact Person Name/ Designation/ Email and Phone number to be shared in email to get the sign in credentials for OCCaP portal. Log in credentials will be sent both as sms and email
  • One company can post multiple job or internship opportunities after sign in.
  • While announcing the jobs at this portal, please fill in the information requested for in the portal. If their is any specification with respect to the departments to be addressed for the recruitment, please mention in the Job description document as an additional file. You will be able to attach files for additional details.
  • OCCaP will publish job/ internship to the students at a later date to invite applications.  In many cases, niche research in some areas may be happening in unrelated departments.  If none of the profiles match, please do let us know at placement.occap@iisc.ac.in
  • Student profiles will be visible to recruiters only after students specifically apply for the job/ internship position.

Recruiting Research (PhD/ Post Doc) students

Note the following differences

  • All regular PhD students expecting to complete degree requirements by July 2024, if they have completed a minimum 4.5 years in the PhD program are eligible to register with OCCaP. (Other PhD students may participate if their Research Supervisor is willing to give a consent) are eligible to register for jobs/ internship.
  • Students who joined Post-doctoral position in IISc at least 1.5 years back or those with less than 6 months to complete the current term in IISc are eligible to register with OCCaP

All communication for any campus recruitment activity should be routed only via Office of Career Counselling and Placement (OCCaP)
Direct communication with any student for any campus recruitment activity (schedule, results etc.,) will not be appreciated.
