Our Incoming Students
Student admission to IISc at all levels are based on highly compentitive national level eligibility tests followed by interviews, with participation from candidates. Our cutoff scores are generally the highest in the country. According to our 2016 admissions data, only one candidate each is selected among 12 MTech, 25 research and 115 undergraduate degree aspirants. This indeed shows that we are able to attract students of the highest caliber, from across the country.
In addition, IISc offers admissions to a small number of candidates from the Government and private industries. We also admit students from other countries.
All admitted regular students get a monthly stipend from the Institute. A number of our students are awarded coveted fellowships by Government of India and many agencies/industries from India and abroad.
